Invitation to Workshops for Ambassadors and Embassy Staff

As a leading provider of legal services to many embassies and consulates, we have found that the requests of our clients are not limited to matters of international or diplomatic law. Frequently, the questions we receive extend to matters of private law, such as employment, real estate, commercial contracts and taxes.

To provide you with practical legal advice on these topics in an accessible way we would like to invite you to our next training for diplomats which will take place on: Thursday 20 September, 2018 at 15h00

In small interactive works groups we will discuss the latest developments in employment law, real estate law and the do and don’ts for setting up a business in the Netherlands. You will have plenty of opportunity to have your  questions answered by experts in the field.

Workshop 1:     Employment law
This workshop is aimed at HR personnel and will give you up-to-date information about the latest developments in the Dutch labour market and practical advice on Dutch labour law. We will discuss topics such as the various minimum leave requirements, drafting employment contracts and strategies on how to terminate an employment contract and under which conditions diplomatic immunity is applicable.

Workshop 2:     Real Estate law
This workshop provides you with an introduction to Dutch real estate law and will answer questions like: How to get a government permit to build, expand or adjust a building for your residency or Embassy? What are the restrictions and possibilities of zoning plans? How to deal with neighbours? and practical information about leases and sub-leases.

Workshop 3:     Doing business in the Netherlands from a corporate and tax perspective
This workshop is aimed at the embassy’s trade commissioners who often act as a point of referral for citizens and companies from their homeland and are confronted with questions on a variety of Dutch legal, tax and corporate matters. We will discuss the forms of business, legal entities, creating a Dutch branch, the competitive features of the Dutch tax system and provide you with practical information on how to help companies from your homeland to successfully establish their business in The Netherlands.
