Tim van der Maas

Tim van der Maas, partner and lawyer at BUREN, specialises in corporate law and franchising. He advises and represents cross-border clients, particularly in relation to (franchise) agreements and mergers and acquisitions. In addition, he focuses on Legal Tech and the international network Pangea Net.

Tim obtained his master’s degree in international law from Leiden University in 1994. He also studied in Cambridge and completed the Grotius postgraduate programme in Dutch and European Competition Law in 1998. As of 1 January 2026, he has been working at BUREN following the merger of his firm, Valegis Advocaten, which he founded in 2004, with BUREN.

Tim is actively involved in the Dutch Franchise Association and various specialist associations, including those focused on Legal Tech and (family business) mergers and acquisitions. He is a co-founder of the international network of independent law firms Pangea Net, within which he is involved in, among other things, the implementation of AI solutions.

Tim also serves as a supervisory board member of a family-owned company in the transport sector.
