We would like to invite you for the seminar “Protecting Trade Secrets”. The seminar will take place at the WTC Zuidas Business & Conference Center in Amsterdam on 4th October 2018 from 3.00 to 6.30 pm.
Businesses have trade secrets: confidential business information with commercial value. A trade secret may qualify as an intellectual property right, but this is not necessarily the case. Even when there is no intellectual property right, information may qualify a ‘trade secret’ from a legal perspective. This will involve confidential data that is important for the success of the company. For example information about customers, business plans, marketing strategies, production methods, and so forth: not intellectual property rights, but rather ‘trade secrets’.
What are trade secrets that are not intellectual property rights? When does something become a trade secret? Can you ensure that something is a trade secret? What kind of steps can a company take to protect their trade secrets? And what kind of measures can be taken when a trade secret is breached or stolen?
During the seminar, we will discuss recent European law (directive (EU) 2016/943) and the – expected – Dutch implementation of these European rules in the “Wet Bescherming Bedrijfsgeheimen”.
During the seminar we will discuss topics such as:
