Paul Josephus Jitta joins BUREN as a partner

As from 1 February 2020, Paul A. Josephus Jitta will be joining BUREN as a partner. With the appointment of Paul Josephus Jitta, formerly partner at the Amsterdam office of Heussen Lawyers and Notaries, BUREN further strengthens its Corporate / M&A practice. Josephus Jitta specializes in cross-border transactions (M&A) and dissolution (corporate & commercial litigation). Furthermore Paul, who is also the honorary consul of Ecuador in Amsterdam, will co-head BUREN’s Latin America desk.

Paul has extensive experience overseeing and advising national and international companies on national and international M&A and joint ventures. He also litigates on corporate law and trade disputes. In 2009 he was one of the initiators of the Cancun case, an inquiry that led to groundbreaking case law of the Supreme Court in 2014 on directors’ and officers’ liability in joint ventures.

Pieter van den Berg, managing partner at BUREN: “We are very happy with Paul Josephus Jitta’s move to our office. His arrival will give both our corporate law practice and our Spanish-speaking practice a major boost. Appointing Paul underlines our ambition to offer our clients the highest quality and service in both national and international matters."

“I was already familiar with BUREN from various matters in which we have worked together. Our click, the firms’ ambitions and client focus we share have been important motives for me to join BUREN. I know BUREN as an international multidisciplinary firm with the highest level of service. My international M&A and litigation practice fits in seamlessly with BUREN. I am looking forward to contributing to the further expansion of this firm that already has a rich tradition.”, says Paul Josephus Jitta.
