Suzan van de Kam

Suzan van de Kam, partner and lawyer at BUREN, specialises in employment law and employee co-determination. She also acts as a Legal Mediator, assisting parties in resolving employment disputes outside court. 

Suzan advises clients in a pragmatic and analytical manner, working closely with them to find practical solutions. Her practice focuses on the intersection of employment law and corporate law. She advises and represents clients on matters including:

  • Employment and employee co-determination aspects of (international) mergers and acquisitions
  • Transfer of undertakings
  • (European) works councils and trade unions
  • Reorganisations and collective and individual redundancies
  • Terms and conditions of employment and working conditions
  • Board- and senior management-level employment matters, including dismissal and remuneration

Suzan completed her law degree at Radboud University Nijmegen in 1995 and has been with BUREN since 1999. Her thesis, “The resolutive condition in employment contracts,” was awarded the Levenbach Thesis Prize.

She completed the Grotius specialist programme in Employment Law and previously served as a lecturer in employment law for the Dutch Bar Association. In addition, she completed the postgraduate Legal Mediator programme at the ADR Institute and the Supervisory Director Programme at Hemingway.

Suzan is a member of the Association of Employment Lawyers in the Netherlands (VAAN) and the Association of Employment Lawyers in The Hague (VHA).
