Dick van Deventer, lawyer at BUREN, practising in a nationally and internationally oriented advisory and litigation practice. He primarily advises companies from the Netherlands and abroad on all aspects of employment law.
Dick's work focuses primarily on collective and individual dismissal law, reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions, and transfers of undertaking. He also advises on (unlawful) competition matters and specialises in works council legislation, collective labour agreements, social security law, and privacy law. He regularly assists works councils and individuals, including executives and statutory directors. Dick's many years of experience and his work for a wide range of clients make him a strong, strategic sparring partner. Clients regard him as a trusted adviser who brings clarity and practical judgment to complex matters.
After completing his studies at Leiden University (Master's in Civil Law), Dick successfully completed the post-graduate Grotius specialisation in employment law. He is active within PangeaNet, an international network of independent law firms of which BUREN is a member and he has worked in Madrid in that capacity. He also writes for professional journals and has served as a guest lecturer in the Department of Social Law at Leiden University's Faculty of Law.
Dick joined Valegis Advocaten in 2015, which merged with BUREN in 2026.
