Amsterdam, 1 January 2025 – BUREN, an independent firm of lawyers, tax advisers, and civil-law notaries, has expanded its corporate and international tax practice with the addition of lawyer and tax adviser Hans Drijer and his nine-member team. This strategic expansion enhances BUREN's capacity and broadens the expertise offered to clients within its internationally oriented tax practice, particularly in cross-border corporate transactions, financing, and VAT matters.
Drijer has been a lawyer and international tax adviser since 1997, providing both advisory and litigation services across various aspects of Dutch and international tax law. His professional background includes roles at Loeff Claeys Verbeke/Allen & Overy and NautaDutilh. With a proven track record in sectors such as the oil and gas industry and private equity, Drijer and his team represent a valuable addition to BUREN's multidisciplinary approach. Their arrival also extends the firm's geographical focus with the introduction of a Kazakhstan Practice Group.
Paul A. Josephus Jitta, Managing Partner at BUREN, commented on the strategic significance of this addition:
“Our tax team is an integral part of our multidisciplinary services. With this expansion, we offer our clients even greater depth and specialised knowledge in complex international tax matters. This growth aligns with our ambition to continue operating as trusted advisers at the highest level.”
Hans Drijer, Partner Tax, shared his perspective on joining BUREN:
“We are delighted to join BUREN, an organisation renowned for its strong tax practice and international orientation. Together with the existing team, we aim to leverage our combined expertise to support our clients effectively and contribute to the continued success of BUREN.”
With offices in Amsterdam, The Hague, Luxembourg, Beijing, and Shanghai, BUREN provides comprehensive support to its clients worldwide. The addition of the new tax team not only strengthens the firm’s position in the Netherlands but also reinforces its international network and multidisciplinary approach.
