Registration | Annual Legal Seminar for Embassies

BUREN cordially invites Ambassadors and Embassy Staff to attend the Annual Legal Seminar for Embassies. On the 24th of January 2024, we welcome you to our office in The Hague to join our interactive information sessions. 

Overview of the sessions:
The sessions will take place twice, therefore, you are able to join whichever two sessions you’d like to attend.

• Session 1 | Employment law: a legal perspective on how to confidently tackle HR matters
  This session is aimed at HR personnel and equips you with the knowledge to ensure compliance with Dutch employment law. We will give you an insight into new legal developments but also address practical questions like: how to act in case of an ill employee?, what if your employee wants to work from home?, under which conditions is diplomatic immunity applicable? In this session, our employment law experts will address these pertinent topics and answer any questions you might have.
   
• Session 2 | Doing Business in the Netherlands: with a special focus on tax and legal
  This session will provide an overview of essential knowledge for setting up a business in the Netherlands, in particular when setting up a Dutch BV, and the legal and tax issues connected therewith. Further, we will discuss new tax legislation stemming from the legislative proposals presented last Budget Day, as well as EU and OECD developments.
   
• Session 3 | FDI: recent EU and Dutch legislation that affects investments by foreign companies
  This session will review the mechanism to screen foreign direct investments (FDI) which was recently introduced by the European Union. We will discuss how the regulations affect the open investment climate and geopolitical landscape in the EU and globally, but also in the Netherlands. Since the Security Test Act came into force on the 1 June 2023, certain investments are now to be approved by the Dutch government. In this session, you will gain an overview of these regulatory requirements and what they mean for foreign companies who invest in The Netherlands.
